Understanding the Resource Folder

Installing scripts on a FiveM server is usually as simple as dragging and dropping the script folder into your resources directory. However, the exact placement matters. It's best practice to categorize your resources using square brackets, such as [qb], [standalone], or [omlette] to keep your server organized.

Configuring server.cfg

Simply placing the folder is not enough; you must tell the server to load the script. Open your server.cfg file and add the command ensure script_name. Make sure to ensure dependencies first. For example, if a script requires qb-core, ensure that qb-core is loaded before the new script.

Handling the Database

Many advanced scripts require database tables to store player data, inventory, or job information. Always check the script's downloaded folder for a .sql file. You must run this file in your database manager (like HeidiSQL or phpMyAdmin) to create the necessary tables before starting the server.

Common Errors to Avoid

The most common errors stem from missing dependencies, incorrect folder names, or forgetting to run the SQL file. If a script comes in a folder named omlette_busjob-main, rename it to omlette_busjob before putting it in your resources folder, as FiveM does not like the "-main" suffix often added by GitHub.
